If your printer wasn’t ordered from the factory with ZBI 2.0 already enabled, you’ll need to enable it by downloading a ZBI 2.0 activation key to the printer. Keys are available in groups of:
  • One key that can activate one printer
  • One key that can activate five printers
  • One key that can activate 25 printers

The keys will only work on XiIIIPlus, PAX4, Z4Mplus, Z6Mplus, 105SL and PAX4 units with V60.16.0Z and later firmware, and on S4M, ZM400 and ZM600 printers with V53.16.0Z and later firmware. To confirm that your firmware is ZBI 2.0-ready, hold down the cancel button on the printer’s control panel while turning on the power; this will print a configuration label with the firmware version number. If your printer is not ZBI 2.0-Enabled, ZBI will be listed as "DISABLED" on the configuration label.

When you purchase a key or group of keys from this Web site, you’ll also need to download the ZBI 2.0 Key Manager. This Utility is used to transfer the ZBI 2.0 Keys onto your printer(s).

1. After you make your online purchase, you’ll receive an e-mail with your ZBI 2.0 Key number. You’ll receive one ZBI 2.0 Key number per group of one, five or 25 keys. For example, if you purchase a 25 printer key, you will receive one key that will allow you to enable ZBI 2.0 on 25 separate printers.

2. Obtain the ZBI 2.0 Key Manager from Zebra’s Web site and install the utility on a PC.

3. Copy the ZBI 2.0 Key number from the e-mail and paste it into the ZBI 2.0 Key Manager. The software will authenticate the key via a Web-based server and inform the user that it is ready to distribute keys.

4. Distribute the ZBI 2.0 Key to the printer(s) of your choice.
